a move to Aberdeen where Jack finds an eccentric new companion. Together, they
set off to explore the Cairngorms, an area that was to surprise Jack and become
his favourite corner of the Highlands.
The chapters cover a wide range of areas of the north and
west of Scotland, each packed with insights into the geology of the mountains
and perceptive notes on the hardy wildlife encountered.
